What is QStamp®?

QStamp® is a smart sensor in a flexible substrate, which in a passive way, without any source of battery, can wirelessly measure external variables such as Temperature, Light, Humidity and Force/Pressure.

Its sticky like application allows QStamp® to be easily used on any package or material helping, for example, food retailers, consumers and restaurant owners to better manage their food products.

HOW TO USE

1. APPLICATION

QStamp® can be applied as simple as a postage stamp or as any product label

2. SAVE DATA

You can add information to our internal chip such as an ID and/or a time-stamp.

3. ACTIVATION

Activation starts as you wish, just use our hardware or even your smartphone.

4. VARIABLES

According to the QStamp® version you can measure one variable or more.

5. READING

You can continuously monitoring QStamp® at a time-step as low as 500 ms.

6. COLLECT DATA

Data is sent to our remote reader supported in a cloud based platform.

Logistics processes, comprising product distribution and sale, are characterized by a complex network of events which are orchestrated towards minimal product loss.

Within the current types of commercialized products by a Food Retail Company (which the real name is maintained in secrecy due to a current non-disclosure agreement) aims to implement a new protocol for distribution activities and real-time temperature monitoring to fulfill the cold chain requirements.

The Food Retail Company has a strong interest in better monitoring a specific perishable food type of Product.

In this case-study, we demonstrate how QStamp® can be used as an identification tool for receiving and shipping activities, as well as how it can be used as a temperature data logger for traceability purposes and efficient product recall.

QStamp® was tested as an automatic identification and data capture platform for supply chain management (SCM), offering state-of-the-art traceability and labelling standards known as EPCglobal network.

In this case-study, QStamp® compatibility with the client’s RFID infrastructure was also tested. The business process was initially divided in transportation, warehousing and 'on shelf' periods.

The Food Retail Company required as fundamental data: Product origin/producer; ID of the Product; ID of the delivery document; Expiration date; Date & time of transportation, beginning and duration; Date & time of warehousing, beginning and duration; Date & time of 'on shelf' selling period, beginning and duration; and temperature data regarding all business process stages.


The Food Retail Company intended to monitor several information of a perishable food Product. In this case study, we have demonstrated that it is possible to easily apply QStamp® under any product label at the producer, to manage origin/producer, ID of delivery document and expiration date, as well as continuously measure temperature during the entire process. All data is saved in a cloud and it can be access, for example, in a smartphone or in our hardware. Therefore, QStamp® can be used as an identification tool for receiving and shipping activities, as a temperature data logger for traceability purposes and efficient product recall.
